The Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies was founded in 1970 by Professor Thorkil Kristensen, former Minister of Finance and Secretary-General of the OECD. It was set up in cooperation with a number of visionary organisations wanting to qualify their basis for making decisions through futures studies.
The ability to adapt and thrive in times of uncertainty is more important than ever. Understanding the future is a strategic imperative in order to be successful in today’s complex and accelerating business environment. Leaders are defined not by what they do today, but how prepared they are for tomorrow. We believe in exploring all possible futures in order to uncover emerging threats and opportunities, market changes, and industry disruptions.
The Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies inspires and supports innovative business leaders in building resilient strategies for uncertain futures. We strengthen the basis for decision-making in public and private organizations by creating awareness of the future and highlighting its importance to the present.
The Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies is responsible for the production of SCENARIO, hosts a Members’ Network with futures-minded organisations and leaders, and provides strategic consultancy that converts futures studies into growth for our customers. Established organizations do not have the luxury to perform a low-cost and speedy pivot when external conditions change. What we do is help future-proof your organization and help you build the capacity to use the future proactively and develop organizational agility.
